5 Best Side Dishes For Your Memorial Day Feast

When people think of BBQ they think of one thing: MEAT! But that’s not all it takes to host a great backyard BBQ. Making the right side dishes for your guests is equally important. For what is a star without a posse? That’s why we at Supermarket Italy have assembled a few of our favorite best side dishes for a Memorial Day weekend BBQ. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our 3 Best BBQ Recipes.

Seasoned & Sauced Grilled Corn

There is nothing like grilled corn on the cob. But everyone has had corn on the cob before, so if you’re hosting a gathering for Memorial Day 2019, you need to be a bit more creative than just tossing some salt on it. Season and sauce your grilled corn to get those mouths watering. Spice up your grilled corn by spreading Terrapin Ridge Farms Hatch Chile Bacon Ranch puree on it. Need even more of a kick? Sprinkle it with some Bone Suckin’ Sauce Seasoning & Rub.

For a Thai spin on the good ol’ American corn on the cob, lather the corn with Terrapin Ridge Farms Thai Chili Aioli and maybe add some Blue Mountain Curry Powder on top!

Cajun Peppercorn Potato Salad

Potato Salad is another one of those classic BBQ side dishes you can’t do without. The major components of any potato salad (other than the Yukon Gold potatoes, of course) are mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. When it comes to herbs, you can either cut them fresh yourself or get this ready-to-use Knorr Garden Herbs Shaker that has the perfect blend of chives, dill, parsley and other herbs. Add a dash or two of apple cider vinegar and diced celery.

Now, if you want to go the classic route with your potato salad, you can stop here. But if you want to take things up a notch in the spice department, sprinkle in some Castella Cajun Seasoning and freshly grind some Roland Five Peppercorn Blend.

BBQ Baked Cauliflower

Vegetarians like taking part in Memorial Day activities just as much as any carnivore. However, they don’t get many options. More likely than not, they’ve eaten a thousand veggie burgers by now. So let’s serve them something different that everyone can enjoy.

To Make BBQ Baked Cauliflower, Tasty.co says to preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit and cut your cauliflower in half to make florets. Place on a baking sheet and drizzle oil. Add salt and pepper. Bake for about 20 minutes. Take them out of the oven and slather them in Walden Farms Hickory Smoked BBQ Sauce. Pop them back into the oven until browned. Finally, put more BBQ sauce on!

Traditional Italian Antipasto Salad

If you’re Italian, you already know how to make a delicious Antipasto Salad. Even if you’re not Italian, there is pretty much no way you can go wrong with Antipasto Salad recipes like this one. All you need is romaine lettuce, Mutti Cherry Tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, chopped Mastro Salami Casalingo, chopped Dry Cured Black Olives, sliced La Valle Roasted Artichoke Hearts in Oil, and chopped pepperoncini for that one-of-a-kind kick in the pants. Add salt and pepper to taste. Dress with Extra Virgin Olive Oiland Forvm Cabernet Vinegar.

Calypso Macaroni Salad

We’ve already got you covered with 4 Extremely Easy Pasta Salad Recipes, but Macaroni Salad is its own separate category. Still, it’s really not much different than a typical potato salad recipe.

First and foremost, you’ll need some macaroni or elbow pasta, like Cucina & Amore Organic Elbow Pasta. Once that is cooked and cooled, chop up some celery, red onions, carrots and bell peppers. (Basically, anything colorful and crunchy!)

DamnDelicious.com recommends making the mayonnaise mixture with freshly chopped parsley, Apple Cider Vinegar and Dijon Mustard. Once that mixture is made, stir to combine with the pasta and chopped vegetables. To take it over the top, put a dash of Matouk’s Calypso Sauce. Salt and pepper to taste.
