The history of Frantoia
Using century old methods, Frantoia olive oil is produced in the western central hills of Palermo, a tradition that can be traced back to the 15th century.

How is Frantoia olive oil produced?
After harvesting, the olives are sent through a machine that prepares them for a cold pressing. After washing the fruit and removing the leaves and branches, the olives are sent through a press, which extracts the oil using the time-honored cold process. Giving it the ‘extra virgin’ title in the name, this traditional olive pressing technique doesn’t use any heat or chemicals. Then, the olive oil is bottled and labeled with a DOP (designated origin of production), which ensures the quality and region where it was produced.
Frantoia olive oil is made from a blend of three olive varieties: Biancolilla, Cerasuola, and Nocellara del Belice. Cultivated in the mountains of Northern Sicily, these premium olives give it a fruity aroma and sweet, nutty finish with hints of almond.
As a result of the cold process, this popular Sicilian olive oil has a light gold-green color and a foggy consistency, which gives it a delicate and nuanced flavor profile that is characteristic of an unfiltered extraction process.
