If there is one cheese absolutely everyone knows, it’s cheddar. Cheddar is so loved that has become a slang term for money. According to Fortune.com, Americans ate an average of 37 pounds of cheese per person in 2017! But while we may consider it an American staple, cheddar cheese is actually an English cheese that was born all the way back in the Middle Ages.
Types of Cheddar
Today, there are so many different types of cheddar it is practically impossible to count. Of course there is mild cheddar cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, white cheddar and yellow cheddar. But as time has gone along, cheese producers have started making many different kinds of flavored cheddar cheeses. Here at Supermarket Italy, we sell everything from Ghost Pepper Cheddar to Strawberry Chardonnay Cheddar to Extra Sharp Vintage White Cheddar.
What to Make with Cheddar Cheese
Many people simply enjoy snacking on cheddar with crackers, but it is an integral ingredient in many other famous recipes. Grilled cheese, mac and cheese, and basically any type of sandwich can (and should) be enjoyed with cheddar. Cheddar broccoli soup has also taken food menus by storm. And while pizza is typically made with shredded mozzarella cheese, shredded cheddar is also often used. But in the end, we know we don’t need to try to convince you to buy cheddar—it does that on its own.
