A Veronese Tradition
Ruggero Bauli started working at a small pastry shop in Verona, Italy, in 1922. That is where he learned the secrets and methods for making traditional Italian desserts, like the classic Veronese pandoro cake. In 1927, he decided to try his luck in another country, and set sail for Argentina. Incredibly, the ship he was aboard sank and Bauli happened to be one of the few survivors! When he finally made it to Argentina, he opened his own confectionery, which was a successful business. A decade later, he and his wife were homesick for their beloved Italy and headed back to Verona. There, they opened another shop that very quickly became the most popular in the city, baking more than 5,000 cakes per day!
Italian Holiday Cakes
Pandoro and panettone cake are synonymous with Italian Christmas. In northern Italy, these desserts are a baker’s calling. The soft, aromatic, buttery cakes are the result of a 40-hour leavening process. This slow, simple, and natural method is what gives these Italian cakes such wonderful quality. Bauli's panettone, pandoro, and colomba cakes—which are essential for celebrating Easter in Italy—have made the company famous worldwide. Today, they bake a wide range of products in addition to Italian cakes. With locations all over the world, the Italian pastry brand even began making Moonfils (cream-stuffed crescent rolls) in Baramati, India, in 2017!
Indulgent Croissants
In the 1990s, Bauli started making their signature filled croissants. These irresistible pastries are golden, flaky, and stuffed with sweet filling. Enjoy them in the morning with a cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea. Or break one apart to share with someone special. You can buy four varieties of these filled croissants from Supermarket Italy: Vanilla custard, chocolate cream, apricot jam, and cherry filling.
Amaretti Cookies
Over the decades, Bauli has expanded their product range to include Italian cookies like amaretti. Their amaretti cookies are made with crushed apricot kernels, giving them a crunchy texture and distinct flavor. Enjoy them on their own as a delightful snack. Crumble them over yogurt, ice cream, or gelato. Or savor them with your favorite blend of tea.
