Wandering the Forest for Italian Truffles
Bernardini Tartufi is an Italian truffle company built on the memory of their Grandpa Tino, who grew up scouring the Apennines forest for precious truffle mushrooms. Tino’s father had been injured in WWI, so he became a truffle hunter at an early age to help support the family. Tino wandered the woods of Marche, Umbria, and Tuscany, sleeping in farmers’ sheds along the way. On Sundays, he would head to the central square in Acqualagna to sell the culinary gems he had unearthed. Today, the Bernardini brand carries on this admirable legacy in Acqualagna.
Acqualagna: Home of the White Truffle
Located in the central Italian region of Marche, Acqualagna is known for its truffle mushrooms — especially the white truffle. In fact, the town even hosts a national truffle fair every year in celebration of their cherished tubers. While the white truffle is the most prized variety, the area is home to several species of truffle mushrooms, including the black truffle and the summer truffle.
Types of Bernardini Truffle Products
Bernardini Tartufi transforms these local truffle varieties into gourmet products like truffle honey, oil, cream and sauce. Pair Bernardini Truffle Acacia Honey with crackers and Italian cheese for your next cheese board, or add a dollop of Bernardini Tartufata to alfredo sauce for an intoxicating truffle pasta dish. Truffle risotto and parmesan truffle fries are other popular truffle recipes that are surprisingly easy to make! The earthy, mouthwatering aroma of Italian truffles brings a touch of elegance to any dish.
