Cheese from Palermo, Sicily

Sifor began crafting cheeses in the town of Belmonte Mezzagno in Palermo, Sicily, in 1989. The company started off by producing pecorino cheese, then expanded to include other local varieties like ricotta salata and caciocavallo cheese. Sifor has several facilities scattered across the island of Sicily; each takes care of their own local specialty!

Types of Sicilian Cheese

Sifor produces many different types of pecorino cheese, including red pepper, black pepper, saffron, sun-dried tomato, and truffle. Pecorino cheese infused with Nero d'Avola red wine and Sicilian pistachios are wonderful examples of how local Sicilian food works its way into Sifor’s cheese making. The brand also offers ricotta salata, caciocavallo ragusano, and piacentinu ennese cheese, many of which bear D.O.P. certification. Enjoy Sifor pecorino cheese as part of a charcuterie board, shred ricotta salata over pasta alla norma, and indulge in all kinds of Sicilian food dishes!
