Spaghetti with clams is a classic Italian dish that is both delicious and easy to prepare. This dish is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a special occasion. The combination of spaghetti and clams in a flavorful sauce makes for a meal that is both light and satisfying.
The first step in preparing spaghetti with clams is to gather all of the necessary ingredients. You will need spaghetti, clams, dry white wine, extra-virgin olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, freshly ground black pepper, fresh parsley, and lemon wedges.
Ingredients
-
1 pound spaghetti
-
2 pounds of clams, scrubbed and rinsed
-
1/2 cup dry white wine
-
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
-
Salt
-
Ground black pepper
-
1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
-
Lemon wedges, for serving
Directions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain the spaghetti and set aside.
In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and sauté until fragrant, about 1 to 2 minutes.
Add the clams to the pan and pour in the white wine. Cover the pan and let the clams cook until they open, about 5 to 7 minutes. Discard any clams that do not open.
Season the clam sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Add the cooked spaghetti to the pan with the clam sauce and toss to combine.
Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the top of the spaghetti and clams.
Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the top. Enjoy!
