Ingredients
-
6-8 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
-
1/2 cup (120 ml) strong espresso, cooled
1 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
1 large egg yolk
-
3 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 cup (120 g) mascarpone cheese
-
1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
-
Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
Directions
Prepare the coffee mixture
In a shallow bowl, combine the cooled espresso and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside.
Make the mascarpone filling
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolk and sugar together until pale and thick (about 3-4 minutes).
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
Assemble the tiramisu
Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are coated but not soggy.
Place a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of two serving glasses or small bowls.
Spoon a layer of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and finish with a final layer of mascarpone.
Chill
Cover the glasses or bowls with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with a generous layer of cocoa powder. You can also garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
