Originated in Asia Minor, amarena cherries are the fruit of the Prunus cerasus tree. The Roman General Lucullus brought the fruit to Italy. This cherry is sour with a delicious tart flavor. This summer fruit is usually picked in July and is high in vitamins A, B1 and C. They are often compared with other famous Italian cherries such as maraschino and sour cherries. It has amazing taste and texture
