What is quinoa?

Quinoa is an ancient, gluten-free grain that is soft in texture and nutty in flavor. It is one of the few grains to be considered a good source of protein and has significant levels of antioxidants. Because of these high nutritive values, quinoa has grown increasingly popular as a rice substitute and dishes such as quinoa salad can be found on many fine dining menus in addition to family tables. 

What can I make with quinoa? 

Quinoa is a popular rice substitute that will add more protein to your side dishes. Sub in quinoa for a fluffy pilaf, or create a quinoa salad with kale and parmigiano reggiano. Quinoa can also be used in baking muffins, homemade protein bars, and toasted granola.
