Milan’s Potato Chips
San Carlo is one of Italy’s favorite potato chip brands. (In fact, they are the country’s market leader!) It all began in 1936 when Francesco Vitaloni opened up a shop in Milan, which he named after a local church called San Carlo al Lazzaretto. Vitaloni’s store began distributing his products to local bakeries and bars, and they quickly caught on. With its headquarters still in Milan today, San Carlo produces at least 100 tons of Italian chips every day!
Types of Italian Chips
San Carlo potato chips come in the classic, smooth variety as well as the wavy, ridged variety. The different flavors reflect the Italian palate: mint and chili pepper, paprika, tomato, etc. When you bite into a San Carlo chip, you savor a uniquely European taste.
Other Italian Snacks
While San Carlo is Italy’s top potato chip brand, the company also produces a range of other Italian snacks, from salty to sweet. Pretzels, bruschetta crackers, breads, cookies, muffins and stuffed croissants are some of the other Italian snacks that come out of San Carlo’s famous factories.
