What is yuzu?
Yuzu fruit is a large yellow citrus fruit that grows in Asia. Similar to a lemon, yuzu fruit isn’t eaten as is, but its juice and its zest is used in cocktails, baked goods, and other recipes. It is unique in that it also carries a bitter flavor, like grapefruit, as well as hints of pine and an overall tanginess. Yakami Orchard specializes in producing Japanese yuzu.
Types of Yakami Orchard Products
Yakami Orchard is known for their 100% Japanese yuzu juice and yuzu marmalades. The brand also produces juice from a citrus fruit called sudachi, which is a small, sour Japanese lime used to make ponzu, a common Japanese dipping sauce.
How to Use Japanese Yuzu
Japanese yuzu is a complex and aromatic fruit that is exotic to Western palates, which is why it has become a popular gourmet ingredient over the years. This vibrant fruit juice is a favorite ingredient in Japanese desserts like cakes and cookies. In Japan, this yellow citrus is also often used to flavor sake. At home, use Yakami Orchard 100% Yuzu Juice in cocktails with gin, vodka, rum, champagne, and more! Yuzu juice can also be used to brighten sauces and marinades. Sudachi can be used in much the same way, and is also commonly paired with udon and other noodles as a replacement for vinegar.
