Magic Seasoning Blends is the result of Chef Paul Prudhomme’s lifelong quest and passion for flavor. In the 1960s, the chef from Louisiana left his home to travel the country to expand his knowledge of spices and cooking styles. Ultimately, he returned to New Orleans, and in 1979 opened his own restaurant, K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen. Happy customers kept asking him for his unique seasoning blends to take home, so in 1982, he launched the Magic Seasoning Blends company to put an end to bland food once and for all!
Chef Prudhomme and his Magic Seasoning Blends brand quickly received critical acclaim. Just four years after the founding of the company, the American Culinary Federation named him Culinarian of the Year. The New Orleans chef had the honor of being invited to the White House twice — once in 1987 and again in 2007 — to prepare lunch for the Congressional Picnic. The 2000s also saw Chef Prudhomme win a humanitarian award from Bon Appétit for his relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina, as well as the title of Pioneer of American Cuisine from the Culinary Institute of America. By all accounts, the Louisiana native was a powerhouse in American cuisine.
