Caber has been producing aromatic herbs, seasonings and spices in Bologna, Italy since 1968. In 2005, there was a significant development in the Italian food industry: The Ministry of Health passed Law 55, which recommended iodine be added to salt for improved health. That spurred innovation at Caber, who promptly set out to revolutionize their line of Italian salt and seasonings.
What does iodine do for the body?
There are many iodine benefits that are necessary to maintaining overall health. The reason health officials began recommending iodine salt is that iodine deficiency can result in an unhealthy thyroid, which affects blood pressure, metabolism, and even bone and brain development in unborn babies. Caber iodized sea salt is made with salt sourced from Sardinia, an Italian island west of the mainland in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Their Seasonello salt comes in coarse and fine texture. Caber Seasonello also offers an aromatic herbal salt, which is a seasoning blend of fresh rosemary, sage, garlic, black pepper and Italian sea salt.
