What is calamarata pasta?
Calamarata pasta is a short, ring-shaped pasta from southern Italy; mainly the region of Campania, whose capital of Naples is the birthplace of many famous Italian foods (like pizza!). As its name suggests, this Italian pasta type is reminiscent of calamari squid rings, so of course, pairing it with squid is the most common way to prepare it!
What are some calamarata pasta recipes?
This band-like pasta is reserved almost exclusively for seafood pasta recipes. Squid, mussels, shrimp, and tuna fish make great partners for this Italian pasta. For a classic dish, make calamarata pasta with calamari squid rings in garlic wine sauce with burst cherry tomatoes. This light, fresh preparation is perfect for summer days by the coast.
