Farfalle actually comes in several sizes, textures, and even colors! Farfalle rigate is a bow tie pasta that has ridges in it, giving it a texture much different than its typically smooth surface. Other farfalle pasta types include smaller farfalle noodles known as “farfalline,” and larger ones known as “farfalloni.” Italians also make different color pasta types (a.k.a. tricolore pasta) specifically to showcase their pride in the Italian flag.
