French Mustard Since 1840
Edmond Fallot has been crafting quality mustard in Burgundy, France, since 1840. For more than 180 years, this French mustard brand has kept the tradition alive where others have failed. Edmond Fallot is now the last independent family mustard mill in Burgundy, which they see as not only a great pride and honor, but a great responsibility. Their high-quality products are fit for great chefs and home cooks alike.
P.G.I. Burgundy Mustard
Edmond Fallot’s Burgundy Mustard was first recognized in 1903 when it was given an award from the City of Paris at the Great International Exhibition. It was only recently, though, in 2009 that the mustard brand’s flagship product was officially certified P.G.I. (Protected Geographical Indication). Made strictly with seeds and wine produced locally, their Burgundy Mustard is quite literally one of a kind, and its superior quality is recognized by the French government.
Other Types of Mustard by Edmond Fallot
What gives French mustard its unique identity is its combination of brassica seeds, verjuice (vinegar, water, salt), flavors and seasonings. While Edmond Fallot is most famous for their Burgundy Mustard, the company also produces other types of mustard, including Dijon mustard, and unique flavor offerings like walnut, honey, basil, balsamic, and green peppercorn. Supermarket Italy offers Edmond Fallot Dijon Mustard as well as their dijon with tarragon. For their dijon, the brand uses an especially bold mustard seed known as Brassica Juncea—more commonly known as brown mustard or Chinese mustard. Combining this mustard seed with spirit vinegar, gives the dijon mustard an appetizing and acidic kick.
Using Edmond Fallot Mustard
Enjoy the brand's French mustard with sandwiches, meats, veggies, and in vinaigrettes. Use their dijon to prepare marinades for steaks, pork, lamb, salmon, and other meats. Or try their dijon with tarragon to add a rich, herbal flavor to any savory dish. For a simple appetizer or crostini plate, pair Edmond Fallot mustard with capers, fresh herbs, and smoked fish with toasted bread or crackers.
