What is De Cecco?

With its distinct blue and yellow packaging, De Cecco is one of the most recognizable pasta brands. Proudly crafted in Italy since 1886, De Cecco uses the finest durum wheat semolina to make its pasta noodles, which come in all shapes and sizes. The De Cecco Company Makes Pasta History

Following in his father’s footsteps, Don Filippo Giovanni De Cecco began making homemade pasta in 1886. While his ancestors had used the traditional sun-drying method, Filippo made an incredible leap in pasta-making history by inventing a revolutionary low-temperature drying machine that did not depend on good weather conditions to work. In 1893, Filippo Giovanni De Cecco was awarded the gold medal at the Universal Expo of Chicago for the pasta’s “firmness of form after cooking,” showing how technology could be used to make the traditional product even better. Today De Cecco continues to use an improved low-temperature drying machine, bronze molds, and superior semolina to make the best pasta noodle possible.
