A Passion for Organic Food

Eden Foods was the first company in North America to start selling organic food. It began in the late 1960s in southern Michigan with a group of friends who craved nutrient-rich, natural foods so much that they started sourcing it themselves. They did it the old-fashioned way, knocking on doors in local communities to find farmers using organic farming methods. As their network grew, Eden became a legitimate organic food store. People from all over the country began to know Eden as one of the very few places to get healthy, natural foods, and by 1972, they opened their first warehouse to take the operation to a larger scale.

Social & Environmental Commitments 

Buying food directly from farmers and paying them directly ensures that farmers get maximum profits. This arrangement allows organic farms to continue to flourish, maintaining Eden’s commitment to local communities. Eden also carefully monitors energy usage and waste production, always trying to keep these things to a minimum for the health of the environment. As a result of these social and environmental efforts, the public research project Better World Shopper, which aims to identify the most ethical brands, named Eden the best food company in the world in 2009!

The organic and natural foods sold by Eden are sourced locally and internationally. Their product range is vast, offering whole grains, beans, soy-based foods and more.
